Norman Nardini Official e-Newsletter Issue #12 ◊ August 2009 SONG OF THE DEAD If you joined us for the LaCasa Narcisi show last month you may have noticed a film crew present. World renowned, screenwriter and film director Jack Russo was filming live footage of the band which featured Shari Richards that afternoon. Russo’s newest film endeavor stars Shari as an up and coming R & B singer named Melissa Warfield. The manful handful also has a supporting role as Shari’s husband/band leader, Blake. Jack Russo is most commonly associated with the 1968 horror classic Night of the Living Dead. Jack is also the founder of the John Russo Movie Making Program at DuBois Business College in DuBois, Pennsylvania and will be using this short film as a teaching aid for his students this fall. Russo’s co-mentor of the Movie Making Program at Dubois, Russ Streiner, is the producer of this film. Russ starred as Johnny and produced Night of the Living Dead. Streiner has served as the chairman on the Board of Directors of the Pittsburgh Film Office and along with Russo has been actively bringing film and television productions to western Pennsylvania throughout their careers. In addition to his acting role in the Song of the Dead, Norman’s music will be featured throughout the film. The song New Blood, which was sung by Shari, will be used for the live band shots where Melissa attracts a mysterious and dangerous fan. Acoustic versions of Look What You Done and Hoochie Mama are also performed by Melissa and Blake. BRIDGE TO SOMEWHERE Smithfield Street productions have announced that the locally filmed movie, The Bridge to Nowhere is scheduled to be released to all major retail outlets on DVD on August 18, 2009. It is directed by Blair Underwood and stars Ving Rhames, Danny Masterson, Bijou Phillips and Alex Breckenridge. Norman’s version of Rock n’ Roll City and Zack’s Blues, by Zack Weisinger are included in the soundtrack.
