Gig Updates
August 14, 2010-Saturday
Legacy Lanes:
Pittsburgh, PA
Bikers…. Bowlers……..n’ some good lick, cheffed up
real nice….there were cocktails n’ beers…….. Dam...I’m glad we’re here.
Under da BIG TOP da whop wit da bop…da sound of pins crashin n’ a
eastside band dat’s trashin. “Lazy Bones” lured the unsuspecting
closer…in a casual way…”Till The Cows Come Home”, “Somethin’s Cookin”,
“The Blues Come Blowin In”. About this time we’re howlin out loud n’ I’m
talkin loud n’ sayin nothing, everybody’s laughin out loud…..I’m right
where I need to be. Harry hit hard with his lonesome vocals on “King Of
The Road”…Brice brought “If I Had A Child” to da peoples. “Over Said And
Done” made me think of Glenn Pavone, and tears started fallin thru da
simple words…..”Yogi” was well received by da greeze balls. “Sick n’
Tired” stopped ‘em in der tracks. I played one verse of my new tune,
“Three Kings in Memphis”, just to see what it felt like. “Little Things”
snapped a girdle or two. Truth is, gigs like this are about as much fun
as I can stand. We’ll see these knuckleheads again next year…..count on
it……

Moondogs:
Blawnox
The passing of dear friend and legendary guitarist
Glenn Pavone earlier this week cast a powerful weight on every heart in
da joint on this evening. We sent “Boilermaker” out to Mr Pavone with as
much love as we had in our bones. I never really got into that smooth
flow that usually comes to me. My heart weighed a thousand pounds……..we
hit a few high notes on tunes like “The Tree”, “The Blues Come Blowin
In”, “America’s Son”, “Little Things”. And the first set closed with
“Burnin’ Up”……that new instrumental that I called “After Glow”, is now
named “Kingfish”, after da late great Warren King……. we threw it a
beatin to open act two. My ole buddy Frank Giove came up and did a
little thang wit us, singin “Anne Had A Baby” n’ “Josephine” he also did
some nice guitar work on “I Hate A Nickel”, “Bare Footin”, “Round n’
Round” & “Walkin To My Baby”….I was just glad we got thru da
night……we’ll start pickin up da pieces tomorrow…..
Stay tuned for the
latest updates! Better yet, come to one of the shows and experience "The
Manful Handful" himself, first hand!
