P. D.’s Pub:

“Bulldog”,
“Lazybones”, “Till the Cows Come Home”,
towards the end of set 1 we brought Mr.
Chizmo Charles on stage to sing the ole
Tom Jones classic “Green Green Grass of
Home”. Dis guy Chizmo, is a real
treasure. We then jumped on a random
blues shuffle that that Chiz had his way
with. We closed out the set wit a
powerful “That Ain’t Gonna Happen”. A
special request for “King of the Road”
put Harry center stage singing his heart
out. The ghost of Boxcar Willy seemed to
be lurking over by da pool table. We
also sent out “Easy Money” by request.
Young Katie Ramone got on stage and sang
“Baby I Love You”, she sounded great,
more confidant than last night. “People
Takin Care” felt strong. “Rebel Rouser”
opened up set 3 with a bang. Chizmo sang
“Big Boss Man” by request. Whitey sang
“Try Me” by request. We closed out the
night with Chiz and Kate on stage for a
wild take on “Shake Your Moneymaker”.

“Bulldog”, let the
games begin. Yes, we did some howling.
“Somethin’s Cookin” was a smoker on this
night. A strong take on “I Seen Too
Much” seemed to lift me. “Ain’t It
Amazin” did a little something for me
also. Why does it always have to be
about me? Harry used a smaller bass
speaker tonight and after I got used to
it, I really liked it. Loverboy lit up
the second set for me, there I go again.
Katie Ramone told me she knew the ole
Ronettes tune, “Baby I Love You”. I’ve
been a fan of that song since the
sixties when my favorite local teen
band, The Igniters cut a version of it
for Atlantic Records. We picked a key
and did the deed. I was very pleased wit
the results. A couple good friends of
mine had a friend of theirs in
attendance who they claimed could sing
his can off, they were right. Kimmer
ripped up the ole Smokey tune “Tracks of
My Tears”. I was glad to get thru it, we
had never played it before and although
I started it a little fast, it came off
well. The last twenty minutes of the
show were enhanced by a couple young
bucks who dominated da dance floor, man
dancing in an almost violent fashion.
