"Bulldog", "Up Jumps The Devil", "If I Had A Child".
Something different was happening tonight. If you looked
on the side of the stage, you could see, believe it or
not a keyboard player! He wasn't real loud and he wasn't
real aggressive but he was definitely adding to the
overall sound of the music. Everybody knows Norman likes
playin' 3 piece but this was a pleasant change. Jason
Truman, of Wheeling WV, former bass player of the Brett
Cain band was on keys tonight and it was cool! A lot of
laughter was goin' down at Moondog's tonight. Moondog
regular Sue, celebrated her birthday and everybody was
in a fun mood. Local singer, Ray, got up and sang "It's
All Over Now" and Norman sang his brand new song "Pecker
Tacks N Skid Marks".

"Bulldog", "Looks Are Deceivin", "Play" comin' right at
ya! It's been 3 months since the guys played Excuses and
you could tell Norman was glad to be there. He started
talkin' about how excited he was that the Pittsburgh
Pirates season opener is one week away. He then did a
great version of "Ole Number 21". Norman talked Harry
into singin' an old prairie song that he knew and it
sounded great when Harry started yodeling. Yeah, you
read that right! Yodeling! Second set started off with "Shackin'
Up", "Million Tears", "That Girl" * "Love Dog". Whitey
shined on "Shamalama Ding Dong" and a killer version of
"Sick N Tired".

"Lazy Bones", "If I Had A Child". It was a fun and
casual evening that felt like one of those old White
Trash Wednesday's from a few years back. Norman was
talkin' a lot of crap and everybody was laughin' all
night. "Yesterday's Gone" really felt good tonight as
did the old White Trash Tragedy "A Mismatch Made In
Heaven, Can Sure Be Hell On Earth". Whitey Clyde Cooper
sang a song for Chuck Koeler, an old Doo Wop number "So
Young". Then Chuck got up to sing a couple tunes and as
usual did a great job singin' "For The Good Times",
"Secret Agent Man", "Can't Help Fallin' In Love" and "A
Man In Love". Harry sang "King Of The Road", then Chuck
got up and sang the same song with dirty lyrics. White
Trash indeed! Norman played "Rainbow" for bartender Mary
although he kept calling her the virgin Mary all night.

"Lazy Bones", "Looks Are Deceivin'", "Play" "Over, Said
& Done", "Burnin' Up". Nice first set. Very consistent.
Not too loud. It slowly broke down the audience and as
the evening wore on, more and more people got into the
music. "End Of The Line", "You Go Your Way" both kicked
butt. Norman ended the first set with a couple cover
tunes. Whitey singin' "Shamalama Ding Dong", then Norman
shoutin' a rippin' version of "Fulsom Prison Blues". Set
two opened with "Shackin' Up". Then Whitey sang a very
soulful "Try Me", that got a few dance couples very
close together. Set 3 featured a smokin' version of "Bow
Legged Woman". Also, a first time appearance of the old
Smokey Robinson classic "You Really Got A Hold On Me".

A little celebration for Ron "Moondog" Esser was in
order tonight, so the music was special tonight. Norman
and the guys started out with about six or seven Norman
songs. "Over, Said & Done", "Million Tears", "Pittsburgh
PA", "Graceland", "You Go Your Way". Norman then brought
up young guitar phenom Young Zack Weissinger. Zack
ripped up "I Hate A Nickel", "Bow Legged Woman" and
"Shake Your Money Maker". Next up was Pittsburgh Blues
singer Jill West. Jill sang "Let Me Love You Baby",
"Hound Dog" and a slow blues about the meat man. Norman
seemed to be fascinated. He kept sayin' that Jill was
talkin' about the meat man and he said, the meat man is
a sweet man! Shades of The Offenders jumped up on stage
and sang "Tossin' & Turnin'" and the old Norman classic
"I Wanna Make It With You". Chuck Koeler sang "Hand
Jive" and the old Elvis tune "I Can't Help Fallin' In
Love With You", which closed out the whole first 2 hour
set. The second set started out with Norman singin' his
new tune "Shackin Up". Local singer Ed Masley of the
Breakup Society sang "Not Fade Away" and the old Chuck
Berry classic "Round N Round". Norman then sent out a
song for Steve Rohan, Rock 97FM Jock "It's All Over
Now", which Masley sang until he forgot the words and
Norman finished up. Everybody was havin' a lot of fun on
stage. The set closed out with Ray Morreton, Norman's
sound man on guitar. Bob Adelman on trumpet, Moondog on
lead vocals with Chuck & Ed singin' background.
Everybody was just lettin' it rip.

Jackie if lost at 412-823-9602
10 p.m. - 2 a.m. - Fri.
"Lazy Bones", "Looks Are Deceivin'", "Play" got things
rollin'. Norman's voice was little rough for the first
couple tunes but his guitar playin' was smokin'. Whitey
and Harry once again sounded great singin' backgrounds.
"Graceland" and "Burnin' Up" both kicked major ass.
Norman did some cover tunes in the first set and got all
the girls up on the dance floor. "Hold On I'm Comin",
"Ain't Too Proud To Beg" and "Brown Eyed Girl" had the
whole joint rockin'. "Nothin' To Lose" and "That Girl"
brought applause from the veteran Norman fans. "Smoke
Two Joints" closed out the night.

All 3 guys had a bad case of the flu and it wasn't
pretty. Norman sang like a frog. Whitey & Harry barely
sang at all. The Norman fans in attendance showed their
support but the band was runnin' on fumes. |
