Rex Theater: South Side,
Pittsburgh, PA
Solo acoustic,
nice stage, a bunch of nice folks......a little shallow
conversation......"I'm A Man", "Hells Highway", "You Go
Your Way", "Steeler Nation", "Two Story House", "Sick n'
Tired", "I Was Blind". It's a little intimadating
performing solo, but I like that feelin.

up! "Git By", "Boilermaker", "Somethin's Cookin", "White
Trash Tragedy", "Till The Cows Come Home",SMOKIN! We
tried to pull off the old Silencers classic "Side Walk
Romeo" for terrible Tom and also "Easy Money". New tune
"Son Of A Gun" came off real well. We're starting to get
a handle on that song. LOVE IT! Whitey shouting "Shama
Lama Ding Dong", everybody dancing to "Treat Her Right",

Moondogs: Blawnox, PA
Me, Whitey,
and Harry did the first set. I hit some high notes,
although not as many as I would have liked. But I kept
slugging. We opened set 2 with a song for Gil who just
lost his mom, "Over Said and Done", my moms favorite
Norman song. Enter young gun Zak Wiesinger on guitar.
"Git By" came off real well, which pleased the dork boy.
"Walkin To My Baby" also had a great feel. "If I Had A
Child", "Send You Back", "I Hate A Nickel", "Bow Legged
Woman". Set 3: "Boilermaker" was cool, different, but
cool. "Bulldog" barked, woof. It was fun tradin licks
with young Zak." Hoochie Coochie Man" gave Zak a chance
to sing a lead vocal although Moondog jumped up and sang
da last verse. Mooney was raging, LOVE IT! Whitey Cooper
and Moondog both wore the "Moondg" dog mask.

Excuses: South Side,
Pittsburgh, PaA
These regular
Thursdays at Excuses are turning out to be a lot of fun.
We're playing very acoustic, low volume shows and
thankfully people have been receptive. We're also having
some fun with some traditional country music. Tonight I
sang "Tonight The Bottle Let Me Down", the old Merle
Haggard song. Jammer Frank sang "Tiger By The Tail".
Jammer Jirus played bass on "Help Me Make It Thru The
Night", while played manjo. Jammer Jim played drums
while Whitey sang "Chain Gang". Jammer Chris sang "Stand
By Me" and "My Girl".

Moondogs: Blanox, PA
Tonight was a
worthy tribute to Pittsburgh Post Gazette music writer
Ed Maisley, who is moving out of town. Me and my guys
opened the show and just ripped, like it was easy. Both
Whitey and Harry were on top of the music, so I was just
skyin. "Boilermaker", "Rockin Roll City", "Nothin to
Lose", "Graceland", "Burnin Up", "You Go Your Way", "End
Of The Line", "Son Of A Gun". Moondog got up on the mike
and put on quite a performance. Legendary Pittsburgh
rock band Torn n' Frayed did a rare show and crushed.
New guitar player Daryl did a great job blending with
Vinny Q, one of my faves. Scott and Rocky are still a
powerful rythm section. Marks vocals sounded better than
ever. The Hi Frequencies were up next and were very cool
in a sixties surf retro kinda way. Good, good stuff. Man
of the evening, Ed Maisley took the stage and rocked two
hours straight with a bunch of different musicians. The
Framptons, Black Tie Revue, The Dime Store 45's, and Eds
current band, The Breakup Society all made appearences
in some way. Tommy Ameaba wore a worm suit to add to the
beauty of the moment. Cool, huh? A couple hours of
Maisley songs, dis guys a real good song writer.

Church Brew Works. We had a great time tonight. Lotsa
laughs. The folks from the club treated us very well and
we appreciated that. "Nothin To Lose" was crushin
tonight. Alterboys Whitey and Harry both had blessed
performances, I on the other hand was given three hail
marys and two our fathers for my sometimes, off color
behavior...........bless me father for I have
sinned................

Excuses: South Side,
Pittsburgh, Pa.
Tonight was
the first "Thursday Acoustic Jam" at Excuses. We hope to
be doin a long run of these shows. This a great chance
for us to really hone our skills by taking a different
approach to these performances. Harry really shined
tonight playing "MANJO" {banjo}, he did Hank Williams
"Long Gone Daddy" and the Flatt and Scruggs classic
"Pettycoat Junction". He also sang the ole outlaw stable
"Sunday Morning Comin Down" along with "Pots n' Pans"
and "Singin The Blues". Whitey sang "Town With No Name"
and "Pourin Water On A Drowing Man". An ole friend in
the audience yelled out "Secret Agent Man" so Whitey
sang that. We'll be looking to feature more country
flavored material on these thursdays. Also, watch out
for some special guest performers. |
