I was glad t’ see a buncha da ole
Swissvale gang doin da hang. “Lazy Bones” helped us git
comfortable wit da situation, “Till The Cows Come Home”
got me howlin’, “Somethin’s Cookin” started t’lift ‘em
up, “The Blues Come Blowing In” put in da ground, ”The
Tree” rang out with a joyful sound. Harry sang “Pot’s
n’ Pans” to a swangin’ groove, Brice sang “If I Had A
Child” & folks started t’ move. A buddy of mine from
Austin, Texas…..Steve Krause, got onstage wiht us t’
blow some Mississippi saxophone…..know what I’m sayin’…?
We did dat latin blues thang “Walkin To My Baby” &
“Hoochie Mama” then Brice sang “Minimum Wage” while
Steve cooked up some feel good, Texas style…….”Little
Things” was the standout of set two along with a version
of “Dead Flowers” sung by young Katie Simone. That clean
headed Texan got back up for a take of “Tequilla” that
went where no man has gone before………luv dat….been workin
on a tune I wrote a few years back at home lately…….a
song filled with anger………it’s a nasty little thang
called “The Horse Your Ridin”………played it for da
people’s…………”Smoke Two Joints” closed out da
show……..show, bein da key word………

Harry, Brice, n’ I came on strong
wit “Kingfish”, “Cows”, “Cookin”, “America’s Son”…….we
let it simmer with a little small talk, my
specialty……….. then let “The Tree” speak to da peoples.
Harry sang “Pot’s n’ Pans”, we then closed out our
opening set with a blessed trilogy, “Son Of A Gun”, a
song about murder n’ disfunction, “Shit House Rat”, a
song about our daily diet’s, n’ “This Ole Train” a song
bout my favorite subject……ME……..Shari Richards took over
center stage for da remainder of this rockin strong
show. Shari’s a great entertainer wit a rough voice n’ a
ton of appeal….she brings it…… “Look What You Done”,
“New Blood”, “Victoria’s Secret”, “Minimum Wage”, “The
Blues Come Blowin In”, “Million Tears”, “Little Things”
one after the other Shari sliced ‘em up real tight….”I’d
Rather Go Blind”, “Work Together”……..we then did a tune
that I really enjoy playin, Neil Young’s “Down By The
River” to close out the set. “Rich Kid” n’ “You Go Your
Way” lit up da nite as did Shari n’ I takin a shot at
doin da ole Johnny n’ June classic “Jackson”………..we got
married in a fever……hotter n’ a pepper sprout………. |
