Gig Updates
October 31, 2009-Saturday
Night Of The Living Dead
Fest: Evans City,PA
It was a cold and rainy day, thankfully the rain
stopped but the cold stuck around. This was a very cool event with some
of the cast and crew of the film hangin out talkin to da peoples. I
didn’t take my coat off till the fourth song, but I sho nuff did warm
up. “Lazy Bones”, “Rebel Rouser”, “Nightclub”, “Rock n’ Roll City”…………I
made a promise that we would play “Monster Mash”, then broke into “High
Times” which, by the way, smoked. At this point, a small group of kids
all screamed out together….”Play Monster Mash”……..and so we did….. It
came off very nicely, thank you very much. We banged out a couple more,
“Somethin’s Cookin” and “T-Bird”. Stutso then sang “You Go Your Way” and
really got a big response. We closed out with “Comin Home”………Everybody’s
attention then went to the huge blowup movie screen that featured a
short funny film. Then “Song of the Dead”, the short action packed film
that I appeared in with Shari Richards followed. The star of the show,
Night Of The Living Dead, in all it’s glory, entertained this parking
lot full of beautiful middle Americans sitting under blankets on lawn
chairs…………….fact is…….I was dam proud to be a small part of it

Harry, Stutso and I opened things up with “Rebel
Rouser”, “Rock n’Roll City” and “Comin Home”. Glenn Pavone came thru the
side door and Gil Snyder came in from the back room and now we were
five. “I Hate a Nickel” got us rollin. Kenny Blake came trickling in the
front door and was onstage for his piece of “Lazy Bones”. “Little
Things” and ”Somethin’s Cookin” both just smoked out loud. Kenny ripped
up “Mercy Mercy”, and then we slow cooked “Hoochie Mama”. “Shit House
Rat” came off very well with the large unit. Bud, bass player of 8th
Street Rocks, was in da house n’ lookin strong. I metioned that I saw a
Gil Snyder impersonater sittin at da bar. Things heated up big time for
set two which smoldered out da startin gate with Stutso singin “Amazing
Grace” center stage as Whitey Cooper took over on da tubs. This was da
first time Whitey had been at a gig in a year. “Shotgun” was a Blake
fest deluxe. “Heartbreak Shake” got a few girls on da floor. Stutso
crushed “It’s My Own Fault” and set up da big cheese, Glenn Pavone for a
heart wrenchin solo dat got da whole joint into da man, da legend, Mr.
Pavone. A special request for “Victoria’s Secret” was delivered, as was
a request for “You Go Your Way”. Stutso got back behind the drum kit and
Whitey Cooper took center stage to sing “Shama Lama Ding Dong” and
wouldn’t ya know that I called the tune in the wrong key and had to stop
it, then restart in the proper key. I’m such a dork. Whitey sounded
great n’ da house lapped it up. We ripped right into “Mojo” and closed
out da show. It was quite a treat to be onstage with Whitey, guess you
could say that I’ve missed him…….
Stay tuned for the
latest updates! Better yet, come to one of the shows and experience "The
Manful Handful" himself, first hand!
