September 20, 2009-Sunday

La Casa Narcisi: Gibsonia, PA

This lovely afternoon was a real pleasure. I loved watching the horse and carriage routine. Living’s good n’ da cotton is high. We hit wit an extra lazy “Lazy Bones” then peppered it up wit “Ole cow died”……then “Rebel Rouser”. Shari Richards took center stage and ripped “New Blood”. We followed that with a brisk take on “Dust My Broom”…..simmered that down with “You Go Your Way”. Somewhere towards da end of set one I sang “Good Hearted Woman” & got a big kick outta dat ole WILLY standard. “Over Said and Done” dripped into “Comin Home” then Shari once again took over the show with “Minimum Wage” and “Poor Little Rich Kid”. Then Stutso shouted out “Heart Break Shake”. Set three opened up with “Somethin’s Cookin”, just a sloppin along. Shari let it all hang out on “The Blues Come Blowin In”, “Three Times Your Fool”, a ballzy “Rock Me Baby”, then a stellar take of “I’d Rather Go Blind”.

Harrison’s Bar and Grill: Natrona Heights, PA

This evening started slowly, but picked up steam as the night went on. The first set was played to a guy sittin alone at a table. Set two was played to that same guy and a couple that joined us. Set three was startin to get this place rockin. We did a buncha stuff that we don’t normally do and I’m glad for that. “The Blues Come Blowin In”, “When Times Was Good”, “If I Had A Child”. We hit “I Hate A Nickel” and I played slide on that jam. Harry sang “Singin the Blues” for a Marty Robbins fan. “Into The Mystic” came off well as did “Smoke Two Joints”. A couple tunes I wrote back in da 90’s, “I Was Blind” and “I’m A Man” also stood out tonight. Hey…….we had a blast………it’s lonely at da top sometimes…….

Conneaut Lake Park: Conneaut, PA

A glorious day for the miracle of rock n’ roll, the sun was righteous, the water was wet and the love dog was in the mood. We got there just in time to throw it after a long ride up dat 79 road. It was comforting to see Cornell Bogdan and Fast Freddy from da WOLF and Rockin Rick from WUZZ. That kind of support is precious to a life long black sheep. After a bunch of senseless banter between that gang of knuckleheads I just mentioned, myself, and a Browns fan who called himself Harry, we kicked into a nice relaxed take of “Lazy Bones”………..It’s all good…….. “Ready Freddy”, “Heat of the Night. Folks were gathering out on the grassy knoll. All kinds of folks, bikers and biker chicks and biker families; like I said all kinds of folks. I was havin my usual good time, conversatin’ wit da peoples at large, n’ it seemed to me dat, we spoke da same language. Stutso scored big when he ripped up “Victoria’s Secret” and “Three Times Your Fool”. “Little Things” was a minor sensation. We also sucked every bit of life outta dat tried n’ true standard, “Ring of Fire” before we closed out set 1 with a bold slap at “Smoke Two Joints”. Set 2 jumped with “Boilermaker”, “Rock n’ Roll City” and “Somethin’s Cookin”. BABOOM how bout dat for your workin poor. Harry lit em up with “King of the Road”. “Nothin to Lose” was a gas. “Love Dog” was going along pretty well till I was side tracked by a beautiful young lady by the name of Katey. I got her center stage to help with da barkin vocal part and she charmed da whole house with her little bark. We hit “Burnin Up” hard then closed out with “Comin Home” and “I Shall Be Released”. I had a blast workin on da water………….guido in da speedo………did ya see ‘em?

Stay tuned for the latest updates! Better yet, come to one of the shows and experience "The Manful Handful" himself, first hand!
